Cantley, August 10, 2021
Today, August 10, 2021, saw the official visit of the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Solidarity, Mr. Jean Boulet, along with the Minister of Family, Mr. Mathieu Lacombe, and the Minister responsible for the Outaouais region, accompanied by the Member of Parliament for the Gatineau constituency, Mr. Robert Buissières. Supported and organized by the CIEL des Collines-de-l’Outaouais (Integrated Local Employment Center), this gathering took place to showcase the services offered by the community organization, to forge future partnerships, while highlighting young people aged 15 to 35 currently participating in the Reconnexion Jeunesse program. This innovative program was presented to demonstrate the importance of the affiliation between the recognized and funded youth employment center in the MRC of Collines-de-l’Outaouais and the CIEL des Collines-de-l’Outaouais organization.
A program that makes a difference!
At this event, several young people participating in the Reconnexion Jeunesse program were able to share with us the positive change that this program has brought them so far. They highlighted, in particular, an increase in self-esteem and a rediscovery of their potential.
A friendly event despite the pandemic

A little reminder
Let’s remember that in 2020, the CIEL des Collines-de-l’Outaouais was still awaiting funding for the Carrefour jeunesse emploi des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, despite numerous attempts. In a survey conducted among former participants of CIEL aged between 15 to 34 years old, as well as among students in Secondary 4 and 5 at École secondaire des Lacs de Masham, young people expressed loudly that the majority of them wished to have access to a CJE nearby. Indeed, young people from the Collines-de-l’Outaouais were advocating for specialized services offered by a Carrefour jeunesse emploi, like young people from other regions of Quebec.
You should be proud of it!
Officially affiliated with the Carrefour jeunesse emploi des Collines-de-l’Outaouais since July 1, 2021, the CIEL des Collines-de-l’Outaouais couldn’t be prouder of the funding obtained to operate effectively. It was on June 22nd in Montreal that our Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Solidarity, and Minister responsible for the Mauricie region, Mr. Jean Boulet, signed the principle agreement with the Carrefours jeunesse-emploi (CJE) providing funding totaling $32 million for this year. This agreement will officially integrate the CJE into the premises of the CIEL des Collines-de-l’Outaouais. This commitment aims to directly address the mission of CJE, which is to “meet the personal and professional needs and aspirations of young people predominantly aged 16-35, so that they realize their potential and fully participate in society, regardless of their socio-economic situation.” In response to the testimonies heard, we can say that this is a splendid start to this partnership, and we can only rejoice in it!
