Brief job description
Under the authority of the Director of the Environment and Urban Planning Department, the Urban Planning Advisory Officer provides professional expertise in planning, development and territorial development. He oversees the coordination and implementation of major projects, including revitalization, real estate projects and economic development.
He supports the Director of the Environment and Urban Planning Department in activities related to the daily and administrative operations of the staff under the Urban Planning Division within said department. He analyzes the needs of the environment in projects submitted by citizens and developers. In addition, he documents all stages of system development, writes specifications, verifies, analyzes and makes recommendations regarding the compliance of major projects and issues the necessary permits. He coordinates and prepares files to be submitted to the Urban Planning Advisory Committee (CCU) and any other committee related to his function and presents the files for study.
The Advisory Officer provides technical support and, in his field of expertise, guides the Department’s staff in the application of the regulations in force. He works in collaboration with the various departments of the Municipality and partners for all questions relating to urban planning, within the limits of his attributions. He assists, as needed, the Director of the Environment and Urban Planning Department in the management of financial, material and physical resources.

Requirements and qualifications
- Have an undergraduate degree in urban planning;
- Have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the field of the job duties;
- Have experience in human, material and financial resources management;
- Have a driver’s license;
- Being bilingual is an asset to serve our English-speaking clientele;
- Must be a member of the Ordre des Urbanistes du Québec (OUQ) or in the process of becoming one.
